Note
Graduated Lake Crystal High School 1908 - played on baseball team in 1907. Attended U of M 1908-1910, same time worked as waiter and bar tender at McCormicks Cafe; and busboy/cigar counter cleark in the Stratford Hotel. 1911-1915 attended Milwaukee Medical School (nor Marquette Univ. Med. School) and subsisted partly on beer and free lunches at the Milwaukee breweries. After residencies at Milwaukee and Chicago hospitals, served in WWI as a 1st Lieut. in Motor Ambulance Co #44 "The speed kings of the American Expeditionary Forces". Married Aug 6 1919 to Amanda Larson, and moved into their first house in Lake Crystal - complete with outdoor privy and pump. Dec 24, 1926 the moved into the "big house" (1/2 hospital, 1/2 house) Pa delivered 3 generations of babies in Blue Earth county including his own 2 children, 1 future son-in-law, and 4 grandchildren. Co-founder of the Franchere-Williams (another M.D.) scholarship fund for Lake Crystal High School seniors. In 1965 he donated his great-great grandfather's Astor Medal to the MN Historical Society.
